In case you somehow missed it over the weekend, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson tied the knot after four years of dating (and not to mention, two kids).
“We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment,” the newlyweds told People. “To say ‘I do’ in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives.”
Simpson, 33, continued, “The whole weekend was magical for us. We feel complete.”
Now, more details are trickling in about the couple’s special day. Here’s everything we know:
The Pastor: “Papa Joe performed the ceremony and cried almost the whole time,” a source tells The Insider With Yahoo. “He was very emotional. Jess and Eric laughed and cried a bit too, but mainly kept it light and very happy.” Simpson walked down the aisle solo.
The Dress: The fashion mogul worked with Carolina Herrera to create “a sumptuous champagne and gold strapless multi-layer tulle gown.” Simpson topped off her look with a cathedral-length veil, Brian Atwood shoes, and Neil Lane jewelry.
Herrera told People that she added a blue ribbon on the inside of the gown as Simpson’s something blue: “I always do that because I think it brings good luck.”
Simpson chose a wedding day look that was “sexy, easy and ethereal,” her hair stylist Roque Jimenez told the mag. “Nothing too contrived.”
The Bridesmaids: Sources tell us that Jessica’s bridesmaids, including sister Ashlee, wore dresses of the same color palette, but “all very different to suit their personalities and shapes.”
The Kids: “Maxwell and Ace were in the wedding as well,” a source confirms. The couple’s 1-year-old son, Ace, served as the ring bearer while Maxwell, 2, was a flower girl and walked down the aisle with Ashlee’s 5-year-old son, Bronx. “Once the ceremony was over Maxwell was dancing with Eric,” the insider continues.
The Vows: Apparently, both Eric, 34, and Jessica were so overcome with emotion that they had a little trouble getting through their vows. E! reports that the former NFL player got choked up and had to start over again, while Jessica was so overwhelmed she flubbed hers. The outlet claims that instead of addressing Eric, she said her own name, laughed it off, and started over again.
The Guests: More than 250 guests witnessed the much-anticipated nuptials, including Jessica Alba and hubby Cash Warren, CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison, and That ’70s Show’s Topher Grace.
The Afterparty: “Guests went to an afterparty until 5 a.m. with more dancing and late night munchies,” continues our source. According to Us Weekly, the newlyweds spent their wedding night in the romantic Ty Warner cottage of San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, which costs around $2,000 a night. This is the same cottage that John F. Kennedy and Jackie Onassis Kennedy stayed at during their honeymoon in 1953, as did Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.
